My Brotha Doin His Thang

Thanksgiving is always an exciting time in the Carlson household. Besides the fact that I get to see my whole family and eat lots of good food, the first National Snocross race  takes place Thanksgiving weekend in Duluth every year! For the next 4 months, my family and I will be traveling around the country in pursuit of some serious hardware from our two racer boys: my brother, Andrew, and our Swedish racer, Johan Lidman! Racing is a huge part of my life and I’m so thankful that my family has been able to do it together since Andrew and I were itty bitty. Although it can be stressful and extremely nerve-wrecking at times, I love it more than anything. With my trusty cheering partner Lucy by my side, we cheered our boys to some pretty awesome finishes on the track! We’ll be back at it in a few weeks when we head to Ironwood, Michigan.

Whether you were watching snowmachines fly through the air, doing some extreme Black Friday shopping,  or kicking back around the fireplace,  I hope that you felt extra blessed this thanksgiving. Until next time…

Forever a Daddy’s Girl

Today I was having one of those days where I just needed a little encouragement. Just in the nick of time I got the sweetest text message from my daddy, and all I could do was thank God because he knew exactly what I needed! I feel so blessed to not only have an earthly father that loves me till no end, but a Heavenly one as well.Out of the blue, this little note made my day :)

“You are a bright, dynamic passionate and driven young woman fueled by an incredible faith. You inspire those around you and lift them, lead them and bless them with your warmth and God given gifts. There is a calling of greatness on your life; you will succeed at all you attempt because you trust in the vision that God has for you. I love you more than words can express, and I couldn’t be more proud of you. I give thanks for you daily. Thanks for being such a wonderful daughter.”

Isn’t he wonderful? Oh my lanta I love my daddy.

My purpose in sharing this is to show that God has a mighty plan for everyone of us, even when we are doubtful, which I have been guilty of way too much lately! I question if my life will bring significance. I feel that this note was God’s way of showing me that we ALL can look forward to a life of boundless blessings and accomplishments through Him through the talents and giftings that He has blessed us with.  When we are in the center of His will, watch out… because anything is possible! I hope this brought some encouragement to you today! Remember that God loves you so incredibly much.

Jeremiah 29:11– “For I know the plans I have for you” Declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.”

A Lot to be Grateful For

As I write this post, I am currently sitting in my cozy apartment, the sweet sounds of Michael Buble’s Christmas album are playing and I’m in my snowflake jammies. Have I mentioned that I love winter/Christmas/snow? Because I do. A lot. I’ve been day dreaming about winter a lot lately. Racing (snocross) starts Thanksgiving weekend and I couldn’t be more excited for this season! Not to mention that fact that it will soon be socially acceptable to start watching Christmas movies, which means  I will have Elf playing 24/7.  Speaking of Christmas…. My friend Vanessa took our family pictures a couple of weekends ago and they turned out wonderfully! She’s such a talented and beautiful lady, check out her stuff at www.VanessaRaquelPhoto.com. Here’s a little preview shot… more to come in the Carlson family Christmas card :)

As I think about the upcoming Holidays, the biggest thing that comes to mind is how incredibly grateful I am for my family. I honestly have the best family in the world and I love them more that words can say. My mom and dad are taking on the new role of empty-nesters and are dealing with all of the change that comes with that. When all four of us are together, I appreciate it so much more now that I don’t get to see them as often as I would like. It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress life can bring, but if we take a moment to be grateful and think of all the wonderful blessings in our life, including family, it tends to put things into perspective. What awesome scripture can be found pertaining to this. Here’s a keeper:  “Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!” Psalm 100: 3-4. Until next time!

Where Your Heart Flourishes

“The key is to trust your heart to move where your talents can flourish. This old world will really spin when work becomes a joyous expression of the soul.” -Al Sacharov

Hellooo loves :) It’s been a little while since my last post, life’s been a little chaotic!  I have no idea if any of you read this little blog regularly, but it’s a good place for me to decompress. So if you’re a reader, thank you for you interest in my semi-interesting life! :) Over the weekend my roommates and I went to Duluth to spend part of our fall break in the beautiful city. We hiked and ate and had lots of fun taking in all of the beautiful fall colors. See some pics below!
God has really been showing me that I need to remain where my heart flourishes. I am so passionate about a lot of things, as I’m sure you are too. God has given us these passions and desires, and we shouldn’t remain stagnant.  Actively seeking our dreams and desires is biblical. I have seen first hand this week the favor of God. I went out on a limb and signed up for a Greece and Turkey study tour last minute. He opened the doors and I was accepted on the same day I signed up! I’m so excited to spend a month traveling around one of my dream travel destinations. I know I will be growing in my faith immensely as we follow the path of the Apostle Paul. So excited… only 3 more months ’till departure!

Hellloooo Greece!

I had the desire to travel, and God heard my prayer. What are you desiring this week? Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Dream a little dream and live passionately.

Roommate Love

This weekend my beautiful roommate Cassie and I headed to Up-Town for a hot date. We did some shopping, sipped on delicious coffee and headed to Lake Calhoun for a photo sesh :) The lighting was absolutely stunning as the sun was setting, and I had a super hot model. Put those together and you’ve got yourself a photo shoot people!
Cassie is such a blessing in my life and I’m so incredibly happy that God put her in my life. When I transferred to Bethel, I had no idea who my roommates where going to be. When I showed up, there she was, and we instantly clicked. Sometimes I think I ended up at Bethel just to find my best friend. Funny how things turn out sometimes.  She’s hilarious, spunky and quite gorgeous. Hope you like the final product of our little photo shoot! Until next time…
